We only breed one to three litters at a time, so that all babies are well socialized in our home. I don't always have babies available, and when they are, it is on a first come, first serve basis, on the date and time listed under each litter (*EFFECTIVE FEB 1 2013*).
Please email me an adoption application, and I can add you to an email update list. I keep the email list up to date with current litters, and when they will be available to be reserved.
There may also be some adults or juveniles looking for homes, check out our Available Rats page!
We handle all of our babies everyday, from the day they are born. All of our babies are raised with litter boxes, so mayalready be litter box trained when you pick them up!
Babies can be adopted together from different litters, they all play together while here at the rattery. Also consider adopting an available adult with a baby, adoption fees for the adult is waived if you do!
Babies are weaned between 5-6 weeks of age, but no earlier than 5 weeks, so that their mother's milk can give them the extra nutrition and immunity they need for as long as possible. I NEVER cull any of my litters, no matter the size. I may foster babies to moms with smaller litters, rotate babies to ensure everyone can nurse, and I heavily supplement the mom and babies diet with egg, oatmeal, oat or coconut milk, brown rice, meat, nutritional yeast, whey protein, Nutrical, and other supplements. I also add vitamins such as calcium, vitamin B, and Iron to nursing moms' diets.
Please read our Adoption Info page if you are interested in adopting from any of these litters
Planned Litters (Subject to change) Breeding great rats is much more than just putting two rats together. We consider each rat's health, temperament, and type, as well as studying pedigrees to know what we will end up with when we breed two rats. The goal is that both rats will compliment each other in every area, and will make up for each other's faults, to produce babies that are an even better version of their parents!
The time line for these litters: Litters are listed under the month they will be bred. If (key word IF, you wouldn't believe how rats do not "breed like rats" sometimes =), the breedings take, babies are born 21-23 days later. They are available for adoption at 5-6 weeks of age. Please note that certain litters may not work out for various reasons, and are subject to change and cancellation.

RRR Demetrius x RRR Bunny
RRR Gazpacho x RRR Sidra
*I sometimes include percentages in the expected appearance of litters. These are genetic probabilities based on my calculations. It is important to know that these are just probabilities, sometimes mother nature doesn't follow the rules. For example I could expect 50% dumbo ears, but in reality only end up with 1 or even none! Mother Nature has a mind of her own.
